Studio-Experience

Times are 9.30 to 4

David and I are very glad glad that we can all make this happen. So here now are some things you need to know.

Dates are Monday/Tuesday – April 2nd and 3rd.

Times are from 9.30 to 4.

The plan is for you to learn some glass painting techniques and do a lot of painting (our designs and maybe also yours – we’ll figure that out as we go along).

It will be good if we can fire your finished pieces so you can have them and also take good photos of them because maybe this will be helpful when you apply to college etc.

But we can also do a lot more than techniques.

For instance, we can talk about “working in a studio”, “making a living”, “making a profit (or loss)”, “finding clients”, “design”, “how to work out costs” etc. etc.

Please think of anything you want to ask or talk about. It’s your call.

We’ll provide everything (apart from lunch) like aprons and gloves (if you want them), brushes, glass, paint etc. etc.

Don’t wear smart clothes: glass painting is messy work, so jeans etc. are fine.

Do wear solid shoes – no sandals, espadrilles etc. etc.

As a work-place, it’s safe enough here, and you won’t be cutting glass or doing anything dangerous.

But it’s still a work-place. So always take care.

You will need to make your own way here to Stanton Lacy. The studio’s name is “Williams & Byrne”. You’ll see the signs/logo. You’ll probably also see my red push-bike parked outside the studio door.

We’re glad to meet parents if they wish to call by; the best time for this is 4 on Tuesday afternoon.

Please bring your own lunch. (There’ll be tea, coffee, biscuits, snacks etc. here of course.)

Also £5 for the tracing brushes you’ll use which will be yours to keep.

If anyone has any questions or concerns about anything at all, by all means ring here (01584 856724) or email me directly.

See you on Monday. Between now and then, look around this blog and see what interests you.

Best,

Stephen Byrne

P.S. If you’re going to be late on Monday/Tuesday or can’t make it, please ring and tell me.
